Fall is a Time of New Beginnings
Fall is a Time for New Beginnings
Fall is my favorite season. I enjoy the crisp air, apple cider, and the beautiful colors of the leaves. I walk every day and have a lot of time to think while taking in all of the beauty around me. One of the things I’ve been thinking about lately is how fall is nature’s way of clearing out the old to make room for the new. Below are a few ideas on how you can clear out the old to help you grow your business.
Six Things To Clear Out To Make Room For New Opportunities
Clearing out the old can definitely make way for the new. In business we often hold onto old prospects, habits, and even clients far too long. Here are a few things to consider clearing out to make way for new opportunities:
- Prospects – Do you have old prospects in your sales pipeline? Reach out to them and give them motivation to say yes or no. If it’s a no, then close/lost the opportunity and move on.
- Bad Habits – What bad habits do you have that are holding you back? If you can’t think of any then ask your business partner, your boss or a co-worker, or even your spouse/significant other for assistance. Chances are, if your results aren’t where you want them to be… you have some bad habits. Find one or two bad habits this fall and replace them with good ones.
- Clients – Yes, I said clients. Do you have clients that are holding you back? The 80/20 principle says that 80% of your income comes from 20% of your clients. Go through your book of clients and consider firing those that are holding you back. This will make room for new, profitable clients.
- Your Inbox – Email is a great tool, but it is full of other people’s agendas. Clear out your inbox by deleting useless emails and saving the important ones to folders. You can take it a step further by creating email-only time blocks during your day. This is time that you reserve for checking email. Don’t be a slave to email.
- Your Office – OK, I realize that not everyone has, or even likes to have, a clean office. What is important, however, is that you throw away old papers and junk that is cluttering your life. Throw away the old to make room for the new opportunities.
- Thoughts – One of the most important “things” to clear out are thoughts that are not serving you. For example, by clearing out thoughts that are filled with fear, anger, hurt, pain, disgust, insecurity, or jealousy we help make room for new thoughts to replace these negative thoughts. This is when miracles can happen.
I hope today’s blog post gave you an idea or two to clear out some old to make room for new opportunities.
